DESCRIPTION:In partnership with our Arts in Service Program\, We Serve Too offers free workshops and experiences designed for military families and spouses to create and connect through the arts. This fun\, low stake’s introduction to glass fusing will give you the fundamentals of this unique art medium with none of the intimidation. After a brief discussion of the process of kiln-formed glass\, each participant will cut\, chip\, nip\, sprinkle and arrange colorful glass components into an original 6″ art dish. SUMMARY:We Serve Too Hidden Gems in Renaissance Art
DESCRIPTION:In partnership with our Arts in Service Program\, We Serve Too offers free workshops and experiences designed for military families and spouses to create and connect through the arts. This introductory Art History course\, with KarNa Swirlbul\, explores how Renaissance artists drew inspiration from Greek and Roman antiquity. Students will examine how the fusion of Classical ideals with Sacred (religious) and Secular (worldly) themes led to a transformative focus on realism\, emotion\, and the human form. Students are permitted to use their cell phone to photograph slides but are not permitted to video tape in the classroom. SUMMARY:We Serve Too Visiting Artist Workshop- Ehren Tool
DESCRIPTION:In partnership with our Arts in Service Program\, We Serve Too offers free workshops and experiences designed for military families and spouses to create and connect through the arts. “I just make cups.” -Ehren Tool Join us in One East Pop-up for a wheel-throwing demonstration and conversation with MCA artist-in-residence\, Ehren Tool. A Marine Corps veteran of the 1991 Gulf War\, Tool has made and given away more than 26\,000 cups. Participants will also get the opportunity to decorate a keepsake cup* thrown by the artist. Ehren Tool is a ceramic artist whose work is heavily influenced by his service in the Marine Corps and his subsequent return to the civilian world. He received his MFA in 2005 from the University of California Berkeley. Tool just makes cups and believes peace is the only adequate war memorial. Check out Craft in America’s episode\, Service\, that features Ehren Tool to learn more. *Cups will need to be fired and will be available for pick up two weeks after the program. Designed for children 3 and up\, this supervised program includes creating handmade valentines\, playing festive games\, and enjoying a Valentine’s story time. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a free open house event to preview the Arts in Service program\, which offers free studio art classes for service-members and veterans. Priority registration for Spring 2026 classes will be available at the event for students who have never participated in Arts in Service before. Current students will be able to register on Weds\, 11/12 at 12:00 PM. Enjoy free demonstrations in welding\, blacksmithing\, glass\, jewelry\, printmaking and more! The open house will also feature a free lunch\, hands-on activities and a resource fair with our community partners\, in addition to a We Serve Too Stamping Activity featuring flora and fauna (no registration necessary for this event).
